The full calculation, step by step

Estimate only. This calculator estimates the result for an employee with a single employment income and the basic personal amounts, using official 2026 parameters. It does not account for other income, credits or deductions (RRSP, union dues, family situation, etc.) and is not tax advice. Details and sources: methodology.

How to read your net pay

The “per pay” column divides each annual amount by your number of pays. It is the simplest way to check a pay stub or plan a budget: gross pay per paycheque, less contributions (pension plan, Employment Insurance and, in Quebec, QPIP), less provincial and federal tax — federal tax for Quebec residents is reduced by the 16.5% abatement.

Which frequency should I choose?

“Biweekly” (26 pays) is the most common in Canada. “Semi-monthly” (24 pays) lands twice a month on fixed dates. If you are paid every week, choose 52; every month, 12.

I know my annual salary, not my pay.

Use the net salary calculator: it runs the same calculation directly from the annual gross salary, by province.
